Sharanya Gururajan is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate in Economics from the University of Illinois – Chicago and a cum laude graduate of the University of Illinois School of Law. Sharanya joined Leibowitz Law Center in 2005. She was also the firm’s first summer associate, having assisted in uncovering a $300,000 fraudulent transfer scheme leading to a non-dischargeable judgment against a corporate debtor’s principals who had bled-out the company.

In the time she has been with the firm, Sharanya has developed proficiency in bankruptcy and probate administration as well as in insurance coverage disputes. She has also assisted David Leibowitz, in his role as bankruptcy trustee and in successfully pursuing Truth in Lending Act cases against several mortgage lenders. To our knowledge, David Leibowitz is the only chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee in the United States to have successfully invoked the Truth in Lending Act on behalf of chapter 7 debtors’ estates.

Sharanya is very active in Chicago’s Indo-American community and is fluent in the Tamil and Kannada languages.
