David Leibowitz, admitted
to the Illinois bar in 1974, holds a bachelor's degree in economics
from Northwestern University and a graduated cum laude from Loyola
University of Chicago School of Law, where he was Note Editor of the
Law Review. He practices in all state courts in Illinois and is also
admitted to practice in Wisconsin as well as in federal courts in Northern
and Central Districts of Illinois & Eastern
and Western Districts of Wisconsin; Third, Seventh, and Eleventh Federal
Circuit Court of Appeals; and the United States Supreme Court. He is
active in all practice areas of the firm. He is the only lawyer in
Illinois who holds Board Certification in both Business and Consumer
Bankruptcy Law from the American Board of Certification.
David is a member of the United States Trustee Panel for Northern District
of Illinois, and has served as Adjunct Professor at John Marshall Law
School, Member and President, Highland Park Public Library Board of
Trustees, Member and President, North Shore School District 112 Board
of Education and Senior Faculty Advisor of the International Law Institute.
He serves the community as a Volunteer Lawyer for Lake County Volunteer
Legal Assistance Foundation's Bilingual Clinic (located in Waukegan,
Illinois) and as an associate of "La Red de Protecíon" (Protection
Network) sponsored by Mexican Consulate in Chicago. He is a member
of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the American Bar Association,
the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and
the Lake County Bar Association.
David learned Spanish at Instituto Cervantes in Chicago so as to better serve
the needs of his Spanish speaking clients.
In 2006, David received the prestigious “Excellence in Pro Bono Service
Award” from the United States District Court of the Northern District of
Illinois and the Chicago Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
